At the beginning of the game, the Hero and his friends and family live on the island of Estard, surrounded by nothing but bodies of water. But after a fateful visit to the Shrine of Mysteries, which leads them to Ballymolloy, other islands begin to appear in the present. Kiefer and the Hero have been working on an old fishing boat to make it seaworthy and it eventually allows them to travel to other lands. And after a change in the world, the party eventually gains access to the mighty Sea Dragon, as well.

Additionally, the ocean plus the Multipleximus Maximus and a similar area to the latter in the Cathedral of Blight are the only areas that still consist of random monster encounters. in the Nintendo 3DS Version.
