The Waterfall Cave is a dungeon in Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King located in the Farebury Region. It is found to the south of Farebury.
Story
The Hero and Yangus are instructed to go to the cave by Valentina, who had a dream that her father's missing Crystal Ball can be found there. The crystal ball can be found in the deepest level of the cave, suspended in front of a waterfall. When the player attempts to take it, Geyzer will appear suddenly, declaring himself to be the master of the waterfall. He asks the Hero if the crystal ball is his and states that he has been waiting for ten years for its rightful owner to come. If the player answers "Yes", Geyzer will challenge the party to a battle. However, if the player answers "No", he will be disappointed and disappear back into the waterfall. The only way to take back the crystal ball is by answering yes and defeating Geyzer.
After the battle, Geyzer says that he hasn't been quite right since receiving his injury and realises that the Hero is not the true owner of the crystal ball due to his strength. He says he has heard a rumour of a human who was able to walk away unscathed from a castle that was overrun by thorns, deducing that the Hero is that human.[1]Geyzer then accepts his defeat and allows the party to take the crystal ball back.
