Deceleratle is a recurring spell in the Dragon Quest series that first appeared in Dragon Quest III. It decreases the Agility of a group of enemies when cast, with the exact amount varying between games.
Appearances
Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation
Deceleratle can be learned by Mages and Sages starting at level 12 based on their Wisdom. The spell reduces one enemy group's Agility by 100%, capping at 0, and costs 3 MP to cast.
On the enemy side, Bag o' laughs, Goodybag, Rampage, and Putrefido can use this spell against the party.
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King
Deceleratle returns after several years as an enemy-exclusive spell that can be cast by Skippers. Interestingly, a resistance tag for the spell still exists in the game's code even though enemies can only be affected by it if reflected with Bounce or if the character is equipped with either the Mirror armour and/or Mirror shield.
- In the Nintendo 3DS version of VIII, Red has an innate resistance to Deceleratle.
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies
Deceleratle is learned by Armamentalists at level 24. It costs 5 MP to cast, and will reduce an enemy group's Agility by 25%, capping at 50%. The spell's base accuracy is 50% before resistance is applied, and will reach 100% accuracy when the caster's Magical Might reaches 799.
Dragon Quest X
Deceleratle can be learned by Thieves at level 13 and costs 4 MP to cast. Instead of decreasing the enemies' Agility, it increases the waiting time between actions for the targets.
- In the Offline version of the game, it can be learned by Thieves at level 13 and Duston at level 22. It costs 4 MP to cast and once again reduces the Agility of one group of enemies by a single stage.
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age
Veronica will learn the spell at level 17, and Sylvando at level 19. The spell now costs only 4 MP to cast.
Dragon Quest Monsters
Known as SlowAll in this game, it is an upgraded form of Slow. Slow grows into SlowAll when the monster reaches level 7 with 32 max MP and 28 INT.
Dragon Quest Monsters 2
SlowAll now requires 51 Intelligence to learn.
Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker
Deceleratle can be learned from by applying 51 skill points to the Saboteur skill tree, 31 points to the Trickster skill tree or 24 points to Über Helpful.
Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2
Deceleratle can be learned from all the skills it could be previously, though Saboteur now requires 46 points. It can also be learned from Canzar for 17 points.
Dragon Quest Heroes II: Twin Kings and the Prophecy's End
Deceleratle can be learned by Lazarel and Teresa at Whip proficiency level 6 and can be learned by Jessica, as well. It requires 6 skill points to learn and costs 12 MP to cast. The spell draws a magic circle in front of the caster that reduces the movement speed of any monsters that enter into the blue dome. The range of the spell can be changed with the analog stick. It is worth noting that Deceleratle only reduces monsters' movement speed and not their attack speed.
Dragon Quest Tact
Deceleratle can be learned by War gryphon at level 24 and costs 14 MP to cast. It has a range of three squares away from the caster in any direction and lowers the AGL of all enemies in a 3x3 square.
