Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation

Kaswoosh is learned by advancing to rank 4 of the Paladin vocation, keeping the parameters of its previous appearance.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past

Kaswoosh is learned by advancing to rank 4 as a Paladin and rank 8 as the Draguar class.

  • In the Nintendo 3DS version, it can also be learned at rank 6 as a Sage, rank 5 as a Pirate, rank 2 as a Druid, and rank 5 as a Hero. However, it is an advanced spell and can only be learned permanently by mastering the Draguar vocation.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King

Kaswoosh is learned by Angelo at level 32. It possesses a base damage of 64~144 for 8 MP, and will steadily grow towards a cap of 120~200 damage once Angelo's wisdom surpasses 450.

  • As with other third-tier spells, Kaswoosh was modified in the 3DS port. The base range is now 112~152, and the cap is 164~224 at 520 wisdom.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies

Learned by Minstrel Level 36 Luminary Level 45, requiring 26 MP to cast. Rips through a group of enemies with a ferocious whirlwind, dealing 80~180 base damage. The spell will begin to reach it's cap of 155~255 once the caster's magical might surpasses 200.

Kaswoosh will deal 30~130 damage when cast by an enemy.

Dragon Quest X

Minstrels will learn the spell upon reaching level 51, Luminaries at level 50, and Pirates at level 65. All vocations can cast it for 12 MP as of the 2.1 update. The spell's formula is (Magical might - 79) x 0.54 + 57~87, leading to a base range of 57~87 and max range of 177~207. The calculation alters when the caster's might exceeds 300, becoming (Magical might - 300) / 20 + 177~207 for a new cap of 211~241. The tornadoes conjured by the incantation radiate out from the caster for 15 meters in a counter-clockwise patter, striking enemies within the range multiple times.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age

Serena will learn Kaswoosh during a story event, and can cast it for 20 MP. Kaswoosh's base range is 124~252 and the maximum range is 162~290. Because Serena never develops any magical might save for equipment bonuses and seeds, the growth range for the spell is 1~250 magical might.

Dragon Quest Monsters

Called Infermost in this game, it is an upgraded form of Infermore. Infermore grows into Infermost when the monster reaches level 27 with 104 MP and 134 intelligence.

Dragon Quest Monsters 2

Infermost now requires 242 intelligence to learn.

The whirlwinds last for 5 seconds, allowing Isla to rack up lots of hits and damage in conjunction with her other attacks.

Upgrading the spell increases its damage and reduces the amount of MP it costs to cast. Maribel has her own variation of the spell named Kaswoosh Plus.

Trivia

Prior to the debut of animated spells in V, Kaswoosh was depicted as being two powerful blades of wind striking enemies in a Greek cross pattern. This is still reflected in the spell's Japanese name of Bagicross. When it was decided that the spell would be animated as a twister, the idea of striking enemies with a burst of holy wind would be retained and manifest in VI as Pearly Gates (Grand Cross in Japanese).
