Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation

The castle lies in extreme isolation from the rest of the world, with seemingly no humans having ventured to it in several decades. It is a vertically-aligned rectangular building with one large chamber encompassing two reflecting pools and a block of smaller, interconnected rooms. The Queen rests in the exact center of the castle.

The Dragon Queen lives peacefully in the opulent palace along with Dwarfs, Faeries, and talking animals, but she is close to death at the time the Hero and party arrive. She bequeaths the Hero the Sphere of Light, which is necessary in order to defeat Zoma, the final boss of Dragon Quest III. Before her passing on and fading away, she lays one egg that the player can inspect to hear the faint sounds of an infant coming from within.

In the remakes of Dragon Quest III, the castle serves as the entrance point to the first Template:Bonus dungeon. It can be found by standing in the sunlight of the northernmost window of the castle. This Template:Bonus dungeon leads the party to the Cloudsgate Citadel and Xenlon, and has lead to much speculation over possible connections between the Erdrick trilogy and the Zenithia trilogy.
