The Blue Orb is a key item in Dragon Quest III and several other titles in the series.

It is one of the six legendary orbs.

Appearances[edit]

Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation[edit]

The Blue Orb is required to hatch Ramia, and it is located in a treasure chest within the Gaia's Navel dungeon just north of the town of Lanson in the south seas.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit]

The Blue Orb is an important item that must be found at the top of the Tower of Alexandra before the final battle with Rhapthorne.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit]

A ridiculously rare orb of cornflower blue. Alchemise it! - Dragon Quest IX game description

The Blue Orb reappears in Dragon Quest IX as a very exotic alchemy ingredient, used for some of the highest alchemy recipes. It is a rare drop from Nimzo, Orgodemir, and (at certain level ranges) Nokturnus legacy bosses.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit]

The Blue Orb is a royal treasure of Sniflheim. It can be gained in any order in relation to the Purple and Silver Orbs, but it is meant to be the last orb acquired. When the Hero and party enter Sniflheim, it is frozen in ice. Only Queen Frysabel remains; the party agree to try and thaw the town, and the Queen agrees to give them the orb in exchange. After everything connected to the freezing of Sniflheim is resolved, the Queen rewards the party with the Blue Orb.

During Act 2, the Blue Orb is in the possession of the Spectral Sentinel Indignus, who uses it to emulate Disruptive Wave during the boss battle against him. He does not use the orb when Erik fights him alone in the new subplot added for Dragon Quest XI S. When Indignus falls, the Hero regains the Blue Orb.
