Stainless Steal Sickle is a scythe skill that appears exclusively in Dragon Quest VIII. It is an enhanced version of Steal Sickle that deals more damage and has a higher chance of stealing an item from an enemy. Its name is a play on "stainless steel".
Appearances[edit]
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit]
Stainless Steal Sickle can be learned by Yangus by investing 70 points into his Scythes skill, automatically replacing Steal Sickle and continuing to cost no MP to use. It inflicts 125% damage to a single enemy and has a chance of stealing an item at 1⁄2 of its normal drop rate. However, if Yangus defeats the enemy with the skill, the chance to steal will not occur. Therefore it is advisable to equip Yangus with a weaker scythe or with the Skull helm as it will drop his Attack to 0 so the player can repeatedly use the skill on the same enemy. Although the attack's animation is accompanied by gold coins scattering as the blow lands, only items can actually be stolen.
- In the Nintendo 3DS version, the skill was changed so that the stealing effect will occur even if Yangus defeats an enemy with the attack. The Candy cane scythe was introduced as a DLC item as an alternative way to lower Yangus's Attack, as well.
