The Party in Dragon Quest III is the set of 0-3 characters which accompany the hero on his/her quest to defeat Baramos and later, Zoma. Unlike many games in the main series, the party in Dragon Quest III is customizable by the player. The unique party system along with the class change system are 2 of the major reasons why Dragon Quest III was a major success as they both add a large amount of replay value to the game.

The Party in Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation is the set of up to three characters which accompany the Hero on his/her quest to defeat Baramos and later, Zoma.

The player decides the name, sex, and profession of the party members in all versions of the game, with the SFC remake and subsequent ports adding the personality system that influences a character's stat growth.

Patty's Party Planning Place

Patty owns a bar in the town of Aliahan, and this is where the player recruits party members by speaking to the eponymous owner. When the game starts, three characters are randomly generated and can join the Hero immediately: a Warrior, Priest, and a Mage. Other characters are created by the player by speaking to a registry agent on the second story of the bar, who then adds them to the list of party candidates Patty can select from.

Post Game

After defeating Zoma, the restriction of having the Hero in the party are lifted and they may be dropped off at Patty's while another party member takes their place. This is especially significant in the remakes of Dragon Quest III as there are bonus dungeons available after the main game is over.
