The Purple Orb is a key item in Dragon Quest III. It is one of the Six Orbs required to hatch Ramia. It is held by Himiko in the village of Zipangu.
Defeating the Orochi
Himiko is really the Orochi in disguise. By entering the Cave Northeast of Zipangu and fighting the Orochio, the heroes cause it to run away wounded into a nearby travel gate. Taking the travel gate, the heroes find themselves in Himiko's chamber in Zipangu. After fighting the Orochi a second time in the chamber, he leaves behind the purple orb.
Other Appearances
Dragon Quest VIII
The Purple Orb is an important item that must be found at Master Rylus's burned down house in Farebury before the final battle with Rhapthorne.
Dragon Quest IX
- A ridiculously rare orb of deep purple. Alchemise it! - Dragon Quest IX game description
The purple orb reappears in Dragon Quest IX as a very exotic alchemy ingredient, used for some of the highest alchemy recipes. It is a rare drop from Dhoulmagus, Rhapthorne, and (at certain level ranges) Nokturnus legacy bosses.
