Butterfly Bop is a recurring fan skill that first appeared in the tenth game. When performed, it launches a series of papillon-themed particle beams at enemies.

Appearances

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King 3DS

Red will learn Butterfly Bop when she invests 100 points into her fan skillset. It costs 5 MP, and deals 150%~200% damage to all enemies. It is classified as a dance in the game's programming, and can thus be sealed with Ban Dance.

Dragon Quest X

The skill is learned by allocating 100 points into the fan weapon set, and will deal 130%~160% to surrounding enemies for 6 MP.

Theatrhythm Dragon Quest

Butterfly Bop is exclusive to Luminaries, and deals damage to all enemies on screen.

Dragon Quest Tact

Butterfly Bop can be learned by Maya at level 33. It costs 111 MP to cast, has a range of three squares in front of her, and inflicts major typeless spell damage to all enemies in a range of three squares horizontally. Upgrading the spell increases its damage and reduces the MP it costs to cast.
