POWER Pound is a hammer skill found in the eighth game's Nintendo 3DS port.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit]
The skill is the hammer version of Hatchet Man, with a 25% chance to land a Critical Hit, a 25% chance to deal a normal blow, and a 50% chance to miss altogether. It costs 3 MP to use and takes 40 skill points to learn, becoming POWER Pummel when 93 points are spent.
