Wolf Whistle is an ability in the Dragon Quest series. It summons two wolves to attack a random enemy.

Appearances[edit]

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit]

This ability is learned with 82 skill points allocated into Ruggedness skill and costs 16 MP to perform. When used, the character signals for the aid of two brown wolves, who strike random targets on screen, but will hit the same enemy if only one is present. The damage calculation is (Deftness / 4) + (Attack / 2) - (target defence / 8), meaning dexterous characters will see high damage when the skill is used.

The wolves can be imbued with the assorted Fource skills as well, allowing them to deal even higher damage via exploiting a monster's weaknesses.

Dragon Quest X[edit]

Wolf whistle is learned by allocating 100 points into Ruggedness as before, and now costs 6 MP. The damage calculation is based solely on the user's deftness stat, calculated as (deftness x 0.18) +53.5 with a limit of 500 deftness for 175~185[1] The skill ignores a target's defence stat but can be effected by Defending Champion, and will not work on metal slimes.
