Sudden Death is a skill that attempts to instantly kill the user's target. It is superior to Assassin's Stab in that it's death chance is higher and it will always deal more damage to the target even if it fails to knock off the foe.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit]

Sudden Death is learned by Jessica Albert after investing 100 points into the Knives section of her skill tree. It costs 8 MP and has a 25% chance to kill the target that is independent of it's resistance to Whack. The skill also deals 130% more damage than a normal attack.

  • In the Nintendo 3DS port the Sudden Death now deals 180% damage.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit]

Sudden Death is learned by Sylvando after allocating 20 points into the Knives section of his character builder. Sudden Death costs 8 MP and deals Light-element physical damage that is 200% stronger than Sylvando's normal attacks, with a fixed 20% chance to instantly kill his target.
