Starfall is a cosmic catastrophe of a skill that first menaced players with meteorites in Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King.
Appearances
Dragon Quest VIII
Starfall has no proper name in its first appearance, with the text box simply stating that the foe has summoned meteors to flatten the party. It deals 80~96 damage to the entire party, and utilizes the Rock/Strike attribute that Knuckle Sandwich and Boulder Toss do. This means Jessica has an innate 25% resistance. It can be used by Rhapthorne and the Darksteel dragon, as well as Ultrus if he has been called.
Dragon Quest IX
Starfall gained an actual title in IX, as well as a much broader damage range. The exact calculation is (50 + 5 * level) * 0.9~1.1, meaning the minimum range is 180~220, and the upper limit is 490~599. It bears the Earth attribute, so make sure to wear armor that can stifle soil when battling a beastie that uses the skill.
Dragon Quest Heroes II
"I see destruction."
Starfall appears as Meena's Coup de Grâce when she is in High Tension mode. She channels her crystal ball that then forms an image of a meteor shower. She then casts that foreseen barrage of meteors onto the foes in front of her.
Dragon Quest Tact
Starfall can be learned by Rhapthorne's True Form at Level 52 and costs 108 MP to cast. It has a range of two squares in front of him and inflicts moderate spell damage to random enemies five times in a rectangular area of effect, as well as having a chance to raise the damage the targets take for 3 turns. Upgrading the spell increases its damage and reduces the amount of MP it costs to cast.
