Heat Knuckle is a recurring technique introduced in Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai as one of the signature abilities of Hym the Pawn. He is able to perform it by charging his orichalcum first with a Kafrizz spell to deliver a blow infused with intense fiery heat. It has appeared in spinoff games where Hym makes appearances.

Appearances

Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai

Hym first demonstrates the technique against the heroes during the battle with the rest of the Hadlar Royal Guard at Sababa. Although he never casts fire spells at his enemies, he is able to infuse his attacks with them to unleash a powerful attack. Due to his nearly indestructible orichalcum body, Hym is able to withstand the heat of the spell. With his burning fist, he is able to easily melt Popp's brand new Winged Staff. Later on in the story, Hym stops using the technique in favor of the more powerful Aura Knuckle.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Super Light

Heat Knuckle could be learned by Hym at level 9 and costs 18 MP to use. It would act first at the beginning of the turn, dealing non-elemental physical damage to a single enemy dependent on the user's Attack.

Dragon Quest of the Stars

Heat Knuckle is an enemy-only skill used by Hym when faced as a boss. It deals around 120 Frizz-type physical damage to a single character.

Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai: A Hero's Bonds

Heat Knuckle appeared as an enemy-only special move used by Hym when he was faced as a boss. After charging for a short time, he would unleash a devastating punch that would damage and push back any characters in his range unless he was interrupted. Notably, it was one of the few enemy special moves with a cinematic that was unusable even when Hym became a playable character.
