Crunch is a recurring skill in the Dragon Quest series that first appeared in the 1996 Super Famicom remake of Dragon Quest III. It has the user try taking a bite out of the target with a set of their enormous fangs, dealing non-elemental fixed damage.

Dragon Quest I HD-2D Remake[edit]

Crunch is an enemy-only skill that is used by the Dragonlord's True Form. The 160~180 damage still ignores the defence stat, but it is now affected by the spiked armour.

Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake[edit]

Crunch is an enemy-only skill that is used by pandora's boxes. The 160~180 damage still ignores the defence stat, but it is now affected by the spiked armour.

Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation[edit]

Crunch is one of Xenlon's exclusive moves. It ignores the target's defence stat to deal 160~180 piercing damage in the 16-bit versions of the game, but in the GameBoy Color port it increases Xelon's normal damage by 150% instead of the usual fixed damage.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake[edit]

Crunch is an enemy-only skill that it is used by green dragons, mimics, infernal serpents, Xenlon, and the Grand Dragon, costing 12 MP to use when in the Monster Arena. The 160~180 damage still ignores the defence stat, but it is now affected by the spiked armour.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Super Light[edit]

Crunch can be learned by various monsters, including dimensional dragon, draguar, and dreadful drackal. It costs 28 MP to use, inflicts 150% potency slashing damage to a single enemy and has a chance to greatly reduce their Attack and Defense.

Dragon Quest of the Stars[edit]

Crunch is a vocational skill for Monster Masters. As such, it can only be used by Monster Masters, who learn this skill at level 30.

It deals non-elemental damage and has a 40% chance to reduce attack and another 40% chance to reduce defense of the target.

Dragon Quest Tact[edit]

Crunch is an enemy-only skill that can be used by certain monsters in high-level stages and boss battles. It costs 50 MP to use and inflicts 290% potency physical damage to a single enemy.
