King fissure

From Dragon Quest Wiki

As implied by its name King Fissure is a superior skill to the original. It splits the firmament in twain and swallows all near by enemies with a great pulling force, including those in the Floating "family".

Appearances[edit]

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit]

Though it costs 15 MP to use, it affects all enemies and is not influenced by the terrain nor Fizzle and Bounce, making it more reliable than Kathwack. The skill is learned at rank 4 of the Druid vocation in both versions of the game.

Dragon Quest X[edit]

Druids learn King Fissure by allocating 100 points into their 召喚 (Summoning) skill tree. It costs 20 MP to perform, and targets one enemy for at least 170~200 Earth damage in the form of a jagged uprising of rock. The calculation for higher damage is (Magical might - 350) x 0.865 + 170~200 for a limit of 1,035~1,065 at 1,350 magical might. All enemies damaged also have a 33% chance for their Wind resistance to be lowered by 25% for 30 seconds.

Etymology[edit]

The skill's name is a pun on the Kingfisher breed of starlings, belonging to the Alcedinidae family.
