Hypnowhip is an ability in the Dragon Quest series. It has a chance to confuse the group of enemies it lashes.

Appearances[edit]

Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake[edit]

Hypnowhip is learned by the Princess of Cannock at level 27 and by the Princess of Moonbrooke through a scroll found on the fourth floor of the Tower of the Moon. It inflicts 130% Strike damage to a group of enemies with a 1/3rd chance to inflict Fuddle per enemy before resistance applies, and costs 7 MP. For the Princess of Moonbrooke the souped-up version is Cleaner Sweep.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake[edit]

Hypnowhip was retroactively added to the 2024 remake and is learned at level 25 by Thieves if their wisdom exceeds 63 points. It inflicts 110% Strike damage to a group of enemies with a 1/3rd chance to inflict Fuddle per enemy before resistance applies, and costs 7 MP.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit]

In the 3DS remake of VIII, Red will learn Hypnowhip after allocating 10 skill points into her whip skill tree. It functions identically to it's counterpart in IX and costs only 2 MP.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit]

This ability is learned with 3 skill points allocated into Whip skill and costs 3 MP to use. Fuddle chance is 12.5% per enemy.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit]

Veronica will learn hypnowhip for 3 skill points in her whip path. It costs 5 MP to use, deals 110% damage to the first enemy, and now has a 25% chance to Fuddle foes per lashing.
