Japanese name マガシドー
Romaji Magashido
Race Destruction Deity

Malwrath is the result of the lingering grudge of a vanquished evil possessing and empowering Malroth, becoming the final foe of the Erdrick Trilogy.

Appearance and Personality[edit]

Malwrath is a titanic and hideously bloated chimaera possessing fish, reptile, and insect traits. His head resembles that of Malroth's with the addition of a large third eye in the forehead, but he has lost the four extra limbs below his main arms; instead the body tapers down into a long tail which terminates into six snake-like heads. Along the tail is a series of organic tubes that expel dark mist.

Malwarth takes the destructive urges Malroth possessed to the extreme, seeking no less than the annihilation of all life and the spread of an empty darkness. As Malroth never spoke during his confrontation with the Scions of Erdrick it is difficult to tell whether he is in control of his transformed body or has simply become a puppet of the ancient evil. The latter is implied as the destruction deity was on death's door after fighting the Scions and the old foe speaks from his own point of view, but the in-game bestiary refers to him as being an empowered Malroth instead of a separate being, having fused with the spirit of the Dark One. Malwrath also appears to retain much of the Dark One's personality, and desires to return everything to the void as the ancient evil wishes to.

An avatar of ultimate destruction brought back into being by the power of ultimate darkness―not merely content to complete his unholy mission, but to further it. Etymology[edit]

  • Mal is the Latin prefix for "evil", meaning the monsters name effectively means "wicked fury". Fitting, considering he was created through the overwhelming anger and the Dark One's desire for revenge.

Trivia[edit]

  • Though difficult to discern, Malwarth did retain its legs after its transformation. They are right next to the first pair of organic vents, and have seemingly not grown along with the rest of the body
  • Malwrath has the same number of snake tails as the Darkling has tentacles
