Summon is a recurring ability in the Dragon Quest series. It invokes the consciousness of a benevolent spirit and manifests one to assist in battle, adding an uncontrollable A.I. character whose stats and abilities are hidden from the player. These spirits are not counted as being members of the party, and thus group-only spells such as Thwack and Multiheal will not target them.
The names of the four summons are Tatron, Deago, Samshin, and Bazhoul . In the first two Monsters games they can each be summoned with their own individual skills, TatsuCall, DiagoCall, SamsiCall, and BazooCall.
Appearances[edit]
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation[edit]
This skill is obtained by advancing to Rank 4 of the Sage vocation. It may only be used once per battle in the remakes, but the spirits can be recalled as soon as they are defeated in the Super Famicom original. It costs 20 MP to begin the ritual in either version.
The following may be summoned, randomly chosen and depending on caster's level:
Spirit | Level | HP | MP | Attack | Defence | Agility | Abilities |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Tatron | -- | 200 | 50 | 180 | 150 | 80 | Lightning, Midheal, Selflessness, Sweet Breath |
Deago | 30 | 300 | 60 | 210 | 160 | 120 | Bites with large fangs (125% damage), Inferno, Oomph, Sweet Breath, Tongue Bashing |
Samshin | 35 | 550 | 40 | 250 | 190 | 150 | Dragon Slash, Undead Undoer, Flame Slash, Lightning Slash, Hatchet Man, Kasap |
Bazhoul | 40 | 700 | Infinite | 350 | 300 | 100 | Disruptive Wave, Freezing Blizzard, Lightning Storm, Kaboom, Omniheal, low chance to be asleep upon summoning |
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit]
Summon is learned by reaching rank 7 of the sage vocation or by rank 8 of the Malevolantern monster vocation, playing up the latter's Arabian Nights theme. It costs 20 MP as before. That Special Summon is the enhanced version, beckoning forth even more powerful beings.
