Carlos and Sabrina are a pair of ill-fated lovers found in Dragon Quest III.

Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation[edit]
The archfiend Baramos has cursed the two young lovers so that Carlos transforms into a horse during the day and Sabrina becomes a cat at night, preventing to two from being together for no reason beyond spreading misery through the world. The wicked one's curse is so powerful that not even Ra's mirror can undo the effect, with only his death freeing the couple. Returning to Portoga after the archfiend has been killed will show the two embracing at the lover's promontory, where Sabrina will thank the Hero with a siren sword.
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake[edit]
The side-scenario is unchanged in the HD version.
Trivia[edit]
- The story of two lovers cursed to be separated by becoming animals at different times is reminiscent of the 1985 film Ladyhawke
- In an interview in that story compilation Dragon Quest III: The Unknown Legend (ドラゴンクエストⅢ そして伝説へ… 知られざる伝説), Yuji Horii revealed that it was planned for there to be a cutscene where Sabrina and Carlos run towards each other and embrace when the player enters Portoga after killing Baramos. The 2-megabit cartridge memory limit was totally full once the game was completed and this event had to be scrapped, but the idea would be reused for the ending of Dragon Quest IV where the Hero embraces Eliza
