Kafrizzle

From Dragon Quest Wiki
(Redirected from Meragaiā)

Kafrizzle is a recurring offensive spell in the Dragon Quest series.

Kafrizzle is the most powerful fireball spell and is significantly stronger than Frizz, Frizzle, & Kafrizz. It cremates a single enemy with a miniature sun.

Localization History[edit]

Prior to the localization of IX, Kafrizzle was the English equivalent of the the メラゾーマ (Merazoma) spell. The Kafrizzle seen in IX and later numbered titles refers to the spell メラガイアー (Meragaia), as the Japanese version of the ninth game added several of the fourth-tier spells from Joker into the main series. Because the English root word of Frizz could not be further expanded upon as the Japanese mera was, the localization team instead opted to keep the Kafrizzle term for the most powerful fireball spell and assign the English name Kafrizz to Merazoma.
