Kasnooze is a recurring spell in the Dragon Quest series.

Introduced in Dragon Quest IV, it would only target a single enemy; however, in later games it attempts to put all enemies to Sleep. While the exact percentages have changed slightly in each subsequent game, the utility of Kasnooze treating resistance rates as if they are one level lower persists.

Appearances[edit]

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen[edit]

As mentioned above, the spell's accuracy is 100%, 100%, 50%, 0%.

The enemies Bedbug, Stump grump, Lethal armour, Terracotta warrior, and Demonspawn can use this spell against the party, as can Juggular and Well wisher in the remakes.

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride[edit]

Kasnooze has been modified to affect an enemy group for 5 MP, increasing its usefulness greatly. The accuracy rates are 100%, 100%, 67%, 0%.

Name Level
Goodybag 6

Urnexpected and Snake ch-arm-er use it as enemies.

Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation[edit]

Kasnooze is learned by advancing to rank 7 of the Mage vocation. As with its predecessor, the spell has been upgraded to keep foes asleep for a minimum of 2 turns. The accuracy rates have been slightly improved: 100%, 100%, 75%, 0%.

The enemies Slumbering ram, Sculptrice, Urnexpected, Jugular joker, Octavian sentry, and Demon steward can use this spell against the party.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit]

Kasnooze is learned by mastering the Mage & Shepherd vocations in the original Sony PlayStation version, and rank three of the Sage, rank six of the Armamentalist vocations, rank 4 of the Hero and Gripe vine vocations, and rank two of the Druid vocation in the 3DS version. Regardless of the version, Kasnooze operates exactly as it did in VI.

It can be cast by the enemies General motor, Juggular, Well wisher, Direlog, Hexicon, Black book, Envoy, and Gourdzilla

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit]

Jessica Albert learns this spell after investing 68 points into her Sex Appeal skill and costs 8 MP to cast, maintaining the effectiveness rates of the previous two games.

The enemies Terror tabby, Lethal armour, Octavian sentry, Evil Jessica, Smacker, Unholy bishop, Head of state, and Dark Servant in Memoriam can use this spell. The Infamous Monster Philippa has access to it.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit]

Kasnooze is learned by Armamentalists at level 28, and targets all monsters. It costs 8 MP to cast, possesses a base accuracy of 75%, and will begin to improve in accuracy one the caster's Magical Might reaches 50. The spell will become 100% accurate (barring enemy resistance) when the value reaches 799.

Dragon Quest X[edit]

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit]

The Luminary will learn the spell at level 35, and Rab at level 32. The spell targets all enemies with a base accuracy of 75%, reaching 100% effectiveness against non-resistant enemies at 999 Magical Might.

Dragon Quest Monsters[edit]

Known as SleepAll in this game, it is an upgraded form of Sleep. Sleep will grow into SleepAll when a monster reaches level 11 with at least 52 max MP and 46 INT.

Dragon Quest Monsters 2[edit]

SleepAll now requires 83 INT to learn.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Caravan Heart[edit]

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker[edit]

Kasnooze can be learned from:

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2[edit]

Kasnooze can no longer be learned from Hive Mind. It can now be learned from Rigor Mortex for 33 points.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland 3D[edit]

Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru and Luca's Marvelous Mysterious Key[edit]

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3[edit]

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince[edit]

Kasnooze targets all enemies, costs 8 MP, and it's effects last for 2~5 turns with the success rate rising along with the caster's wisdom. It is learned through the Bobby Dazzler, Cheesy Grin, Cold Snapper, Cool Customer, Freeze, Grump, Orgodemir, Sleep Counsellor, and Strong Speller talents.

Dragon Quest Tact[edit]

Kasnooze can be learned naturally by Baran and Hawkhart ace at level 1 and can be learned by stump champ at level 25. It costs 16 MP to cast, has a range of three squares in front of the caster, and has a chance to put up to a row of enemies to Sleep. Upgrading the spell raises the success chance of the target/s falling asleep.
