Harvest Moon is a recurring ability in the franchise. In Dragon Quest IV through VIII it slices all enemies with a spinning attack, but beginning with IX it has switched to dealing extra damage to members of the Floating "family".

Appearances

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen

In the remakes, Harvest Moon is one of the special abilities that Psaro has already learned upon joining the party in Chapter 6. It costs no MP and the damage calculation is 3/(1 + number of enemies), meaning one enemy will take 150% damage, two enemies will receive normal damage, three get 75%, and so on.

Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation

Harvest Moon is learned by advancing to rank 7 of the Luminary vocation set the precedent of the 3/(1 + number of enemies) calculation. In the Nintendo DS remake the calculation has been changed to deal double-damage if one enemy is present instead of 150%.

It is used by the enemies Jackal ripper, Berzorker, Dhuran, and Nokturnus.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past

Harvest moon is learned by reaching rank 6 of the Luminary, rank 8 of the Jawtoise, rank 3 of the Delusionist, rank 6 of the Dingbat, and rank 4 of the Slaughtomation vocations.

  • In the Nintendo 3DS remake the skill is learned by Luminaries at rank 3 as well as rank 1 of the Druid vocation, now requiring 3 MP to use. Damage to one enemy has been raised to double as with the remake of VI.

It is used by the enemies Bronson, Charmour, Harmour, Alarmour, Jawtoise, Frightbait, Dread herring, Knightshade, Dingbat, and Div.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King

Harvest Moon is a fisticuffs technique that both Jessica and Angelo can learn, and the two have different ways of performing the skill. It requires 45 skill points by Jessica, and 42 skill points by Angelo and both need 6 MP to use it. Damage calculation retains the 3/(1 + number of enemies) formula, but this is the final time it would be used in a game going forward.

  • In the 3DS port Red will also learn Harvest Moon and have her own distinct animation when using the skill.

Dragon Quest X

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age

Jade unlocks Harvest Moon for 6 points on the Fisticuffs panel of her Character Builder. It costs 3 MP to use and deals 250% damage to floating monsters, 130% damage to all other types.

Dragon Quest Heroes II: Twin Kings and the Prophecy's End

Harvest Moon is one of Angelo's moves and it allows him to quickly create distance from a mob of enemies while also attacking.
