Earthsplitter is a sword skill which first appeared in Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai as a creation of the hero Avan (translated as Earth Slash). It made its game debut in Dragon Quest Monsters 2, before entering the main series with Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age as the stone equivalent of Gigaslash.
Appearances[edit]
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit]
The Luminary learns Earthsplitter when speaking to the elder of Havens Above in the game's third act. It targets one group of foes and deals up to 210~250 damage for 16 MP. If the player has completed quest #60 then the MP cost will be doubled, the base damage raised to 200~240, and the upper limit to 400~440. The Luminary must have the Sword of Light or one of its upgrades equipped to perform the technique.
Dragon Quest Monsters 2[edit]
Know as RageQuake in the localization by Enix of America, the skill is a combo technique that is performed when members of the party use RockThrow and GigaSlash at the same time. It deals approximately 550 damage to one foe, even more if the target belongs to the plant family.
Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 Professional[edit]
Earthsplitter costs 32 MP and is one of the abilities added in the Pro version of the game, dealing 20% more damage than a normal attack to all enemies. It uses the Donk and Frizz/Sizz elements, using the least-resisted element for damage calculation.

Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru and Luca's Marvelous Mysterious Key[edit]
With the introduction of the Crag spells to the Monsters series, Earthsplitter uses the proper Earth element along with Frizz/Sizz.
Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3[edit]
Earthsplitter ditches the fiery element and now uses Earth and Gravity elements.
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince[edit]
Earthsplitter costs 15 MP and deals 20% more damage than a normal attack to all enemies. As the system of dual-element abilities was abolished, it is a pure Earth technique now. It is learned via the Crag Virtuoso, Duelist, Freeze Popper, Hair Splitter, Impactor, Rockin’ Roller, and Überkilling Machine talents.
