Kerplunk Dance

From Dragon Quest Wiki

Kerplunk Dance is a ritual dance that sacrifices the user to revive other party members.

It costs no MP to perform and will restore everyone to 100% HP, making it more useful than Kerplunk itself... if it works! Kerplunk Dance is free but it can sometimes fail, leaving the party wiped out if the member using Kerplunk Dance was the only one left alive. Kerplunk itself, however, will never fail when cast unless the character has been Fizzled.

Appearances[edit]

Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation[edit]

Kerplunk Dance is learned by advancing to rank 4 of the Luminary vocation.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit]

In the PSX version Kerplunk Dance is the only hybrid skill for advanced vocations, requiring the character to reach rank 5 in the Luminary and Sage professions to unlock it. It behaves exactly as it did in the previous game. Kerplunk Dance is much easier to obtain in the Nintendo 3DS remake, simply requiring characters to reach rank 7 as a Luminary or rank 1 as a Druid. Revived allies are now restored to only 50% of their max HP instead of 100%

It can be used by the enemies healium balloons and discombombulators.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit]

Kerplunk Dance is exclusive to the tap devil enemy.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit]

Kerplunk Dance is used by genie sanguinis to revive their fallen comrades.

Dragon Quest X[edit]

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit]

Kerplunk Dance returns to being an enemy-only skill, used by octopots as well as Tap devils.

Dragon Quest Monsters[edit]

Called LifeDance in this game, this ability can be learned by a variety of monsters. It requires the monster to reach at least level 30 with at least 210 HP, 180 Agility and 180 Intelligence. It is naturally learned by the FunkyBird, among others. It can also be learned by monsters with Hustle and Sacrifice.

Dragon Quest Monsters 2[edit]

LifeDance now requires 446 Intelligence to learn. It is naturally learned by the Lazamanus and PomPomBom.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker[edit]

Kerplunk Dance can be learned from:

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2[edit]

Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru and Luca's Marvelous Mysterious Key[edit]

Kerplunk Dance uses every single MP the dancer has and requires a minimum of 100 to be performed. It revives all allies, including the reserve party, by 10% of their max HP and restores 50% HP if the dancer has 1,999 wisdom. The dancer is sacrificed and cannot be revived in the same battle. Kerplunk Dance is learned though the Choreographer, Rug Cutter, Supreme Healer, and Vaudevillain talents.
