Boulder Toss is a recurring ability in the Dragon Quest series. It throws a huge rock large enough to squash all enemies at once.
Appearances
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake
In the 2024 remake, Boulder Toss is learned by Monster Wrangler at level 27 if their wisdom exceeds 62 points. Boulder Toss deals 80~120 Strike damage to all enemies for 14 MP.
Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen
Appearing in the remakes, Boulder Toss is one of Chow Mein's special attacks, dealing 90~130 damage. Because no equipment in IV resists the Strike element this attack will hurt.
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation
Boulder Toss is learned by advancing to rank 7 of the Gladiator Vocation and will deal 90~130 Strike damage to all enemies.
It is used by the boss Belleau.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past
Learned in the same manner as the previous installment and shares the damage parameters. In the 3DS Version, Boulder Toss is learned at the first rank of the Champion vocation and is slightly nerfed, flattening foes for 80~120.
It is used by the enemies mad moai, mega moai, utter nutters, and the Earth Spirit.
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King
Boulder Toss is a fisticuffs technique that both the Hero and Yangus can learn. It requires 82 skill points by the Hero, and 100 skill points by Yangus. The skill is weaker than normal in this game, dealing only 72~104 damage, but can be boosted with Tension.

The requirements to learn RockThrow are unchanged. It is naturally learned by the darkhorn, gigadraco, golem, hornbeet, kingsquid, ogre and snakebat. It is no longer learned by the metaldrak or rockslime.

Boulder Toss can be learned with 43 in the Cluboon II skill. It costs 32 MP and has a base range of 110~134, capping at a maximum range of 287~349.

Boulder Toss appears as Carver's Coup de Grâce when he is in High Tension mode. He grabs on to the ground underneath him and lifts out an enormous slab of stone. He then throws it into the air and smashes it airborne onto the enemies in front of him.
