Cool Breath

Cool Breath is an breath skill in the Dragon Quest series. It emits a chilly breath attack on all enemies that deals between 13~16 damage.

Appearances

Dragon Quest III

In remake versions of the game, Cool Breath can be used by Boreal serpents, Imps, Minidemons, Freezing fogs, and Firn fiends and deals between 9~20 damage to the entire party.

Dragon Quest IV

Sparkie will sometimes use this skill in battle. It can also be used by Imps and Powie yowies and deals 9~13 damage.

Dragon Quest V

Cool Breath is learned by monster companions such as the chimaera. It does not cost any MP to use.

Dragon Quest VI

Cool Breath is learned by Shelley at level 5. Other characters can obtain this technique by advancing to rank 2 of the Dragon vocation or rank 5 of the Monster Master vocation. On the enemy side, it can be used by Dreamaeras, Shadows, and Sculptrice.

Dragon Quest VII

Cool Breath revived a substantial boost in the Nintendo 3DS version, hitting for 30~45 damage. In the original Sony PlayStation version, it is learned by reaching rank 4 as a Monster Masher or rank 3 in the 3DS version, as well as rank 3 as a Drake slime. It can be used by Forky pigs and Wet kissers.

Dragon Quest VIII

Munchie can use Cool Breath after eating cold cheese. It can be used by enemy Ice queens, Imps, and Shadows.

Dragon Quest IX

Cool Breath appears as an enemy-only skill that can be used exclusively by Salamarauders. It deals between 12~15 damage.

Dragon Quest X

Cool Breath can be used by various enemy monsters, including Sizzards.

Dragon Quest XI

Cool Breath is an enemy-only skill that can be used by Chillanodon, Jarvis, and Miasmas. It deals between 18~20 ice damage.

Dragon Quest Monsters

Called FrigidAir in this game, it requires a monster to reach level 3 with 21 HP. It grows into IceAir when the monster reaches level 10 with 70 HP. It is naturally learned by the Akubar, BigEye, Blizzardy, Darkdrium, Demonite, Divinegon, EvilBeast, EvilWand, Gismo, GreatDrak, IceMan, KingLeo, Mudou, Shadow, Sidoh, Skullgon, Wyvern and Zoma.

Dragon Quest Monsters 2

The requirements to learn and upgrade FrigidAir are unchanged. It is naturally learned by PsychoPiz and the SeaHorse.

Young Yangus and the Mysterious Dungeon

Cool Breath is a monster skill that can be learned by Sizzard and Freezing fog. It deals 5 damage and has a chance to freeze the enemy for one turn. It can also be used to extinguish fire pillars in the Secret Passage dungeon.

Dragon Quest Tact

Cool Breath is known naturally by Dragon slime, Freezing fog, Imp, Jade dragon, Powie yowie, Silhouette, Skelegon, and Sculptrice at level 1. It costs 9 MP to use and inflicts minor Crack-type breath damage to any enemies in a range of three squares in front of the user. It can also be taught to any unit by using an ability scroll. The scroll to teach it can be earned by completing Bubble slime Road 4, Green dragon Road 2, and Skelegon Road 4, as well as purchasable from the Event Shop during the limited Dragon Quest IV event up to 3 times for 750 medals each.
