Inferno is a breath attack in the Dragon Quest series. It belches blistering flames on all enemies for 65~85 damage.

Appearances

Dragon Quest

In remake versions of the game, Inferno can be used by the Dragonlord in his second form. It inflicts 65~72 damage to the Hero unless he is wearing Erdrick's armour.

Dragon Quest II

In remake versions of the game, Inferno can be used by Malroth, inflicting 90~110 damage to the entire party (100-120 damage starting with the smartphone version).

Dragon Quest III

In remake versions of the game, Inferno can be used by Infernal serpents, Green dragons, Baramos, King Hydra, and the Soul of Baramos. It can also be used by Red dragons, EvilClouds, and the Gran Dragon.

Dragon Quest IV

Inferno makes its first appearance in the series, being used by Night riders, Barbatos, and Psaro the Manslayer in his fourth and final forms. It inflicts 80~100 damage to the entire party.

Dragon Quest V

Inferno is learned by several monster companions such as the Archdemon. It does not cost MP to use.

Dragon Quest VI

Inferno is learned by Lizzie at level 15. Other characters can obtain this technique by advancing to rank 5 of the Dragon vocation.

Dragon Quest VII

In the Nintendo 3DS version of the game, Inferno can be learned by Monster Mashers at rank 7. On the enemy side, it can be used by Barbatos, Drakulards, Prism peacocks, Rashaveraks, Rotwyrms, Seasaurs, Vis magers, Wharfhorses, Weighverns, Sulkk, the Fire Spirit, and Orgodemir's second form in the first battle against him.

Dragon Quest VIII

Munchie can immolate foes with Inferno if he is fed the super spicy cheese. On the enemy side, it can be used by Belial, Bobongas, Dark gryphons, Dragurns, Hellspawns, Megalodons, Seasaurs, Servants of darkness, Tyrantosauruses, War gryphons, as well as Dhoulmagus in his second form, Gemon, and Rhapthorne's second form.

Dragon Quest Monsters

Called Scorching in this game, it is an upgraded form of BlazeAir. BlazeAir will grow into Scorching when the monster reaches level 20 with 140 HP. Scorching will grow into White Fire when the monster reaches level 30 with 210 HP.

Dragon Quest Monsters 2

The requirements to learn and upgrade Scorching are unchanged.

Inferno can be learned from all the skills it could be previously, as well as with 6 points in Hero of the Heavens, or 8 points in Zenith Dragon.

Dragon Quest Tact

Inferno can be learned by Firebird at level 36, Ethereal serpent at level 44, and by Axesaurus and Green dragon at level 46. It costs 57 MP to use and inflicts moderate Frizz-type breath damage to all enemies in a range of three squares in front of the user.
