Title Archfiend

Baramos, known as the Demon Lord and the Arch Fiend, is one of the main villains of Dragon Warrior III, and a recurring monster in the series.

Characteristics

Throughout the first half of Dragon Warrior III, Baramos is believed to be the final boss; however, when he is defeated by the hero, who returns to Aliahan triumphant, Zoma interrupts the celebrations to reveal Baramos was just an underling of his, and announces his intentions to plunge the world into darkness, causing the hero to continue his quest.

In addition to the primary Baramos at work in Zoma's scheme, his inner circle includes at least two more versions of Baramos, Baramos Bomus and Baramos Gonus (the latter of which appears to be a skeletal form of Baramos). In the Dragon Quest III remakes, a common, repeated enemy in the first bonus dungeon is also a form of Baramos known as Baramevil. Whether the Baramevils were in Zoma's employ is not certain.

Abilities

Other Appearances

Outside his main role in Dragon Quest III, Baramos also makes appearances in these titles.

Dragon Quest IX

"Windproof king and wizard who wastes no time in whipping out Kaboom, Kafrizz, and all kinds of calamity-inducing conjury. Takes great pleasure in obliterating people while they're busy poking fun at his bizarre appearance." - Dragon Quest IX bestiary

Baramos appears as a Legacy Boss, obtained after completing Quest #062. He is the weakest of the Legacy bosses, but he is still very powerful and capable of casting Kafrizz and Kaboom and can also use fire breath and regular attacks (which are prone to inflicting critical hits). Ice attacks are his weakness, but he resists wind attacks.
