Galenholm is a town located in the northwestern corner of Alefgard in Dragon Quest and Dragon Quest Builders. It is named for its founder, Galen who traveled the kingdom as a bard of high renown, and owned the Lyre of Ire. It was preceded by Galen's House, which was present during the events of Template:Dragon Quest, III.
It does not appear in Dragon Quest II along with many other locations in Alefgard. Being located in the far north, its climate is bitterly cold, sometimes even freezing.
Appearances[edit]
Dragon Quest[edit]
Galenholm is typically the first major town the hero visits after Tantegel, offering substantial equipment improvements over the paltry selection in the aforementioned town. It is also revisited later in the game after the hero has obtained a supply of Magic Keys, giving the player access to the Grave of Galen.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit]
Galenholm is the first section of the original game that may be visited through the Echo Chamber. The Luminary finds himself taken back to just before the events of that game, where the people of the town have fled due to monster attacks brought on by a creature that wanted the Lyre of Ire to improve it's skills as musician. Once the creature is discovered to be an off-key Bongo drongo, it is defeated in a battle. With the Lyre of Ire returned, the people return to their lives and eagerly gossip about a rumored hero paying their village a visit in the near future.
Dragon Quest Builders[edit]
In this game, Galenholm (along with Kol) consists of different areas that can be reached by using teleportals:
The chapter's theme focuses on harnessing magic to fight elemental enemies, and the boss at the end of Chapter 3 is a colossal fusion of a Magmalice and a Firn fiend. The town itself has fallen to monsters and become a frozen hellscape.
