In the English version of VIII, her voice is provided by Jessica Martin
Appearances
Dragon Quest III
When the party first discovers the Leiamland shrine, Ramia is only an egg being guarded by a pair of twin sisters. In order to hatch her egg, the hero and his/her party must gather the Six Orbs from around the world and place them on pedestals surrounding it. Once hatched, Ramia serves as the series' first aerial transportation, allowing access to such places as Baramos' castle and the Dragon Queen's castle in the central continent. However, Ramia cannot travel to the World of Darkness, nor can she land where the player cannot walk, such as high mountains and bodies of water.
The theme that plays while riding Ramia is Heavenly Flight.
Dragon Quest VIII
In the distant past, the Godbird Empyrea assisted the Seven Sages in creating the Godbird Sceptre and sealing away the demon Rhapthorne within it.
Many years later, Empyrea had laid an egg on her eyrie near Empycchu. The egg, however, was stolen by Rhapthorne's agent Gemon and taken to the Dark World. Although Gemon was defeated by the party, he managed to destroy the egg before dying. The soul of Empyrea's son remained, however, and became the Godbird's Soulstone, which enabled the party to take to the skies.
After Rhapthorne's resurrection, Empyrea sent the party to collect the orbs containing the spirits of the Seven Sages and gave to them the Godbird Sceptre. She also joined the party for the final battle, allowing them to travel on her wings.
Following Rhapthorne's final destruction, Empyrea carried the party back to Trodain Castle, where she revealed that her true name was, in fact, Ramia. She demonstrates her power to travel to other worlds, fading into the distance as she regales that she kept the name the six sages bestowed upon her out of her respect for them.
When using the Godbird's Soulstone, an ambient version of Heavenly Flight is used.
As a Boss

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2
The legendary bird is found in the Cragvaration area post-game, in the same nest previously occupied by Gemon. The Godbird's most damaging move is Lightning Storm, which does up to 287~350 lightning damage to the entire party.
