Known as Dominicus' Dominion, the palace sits in a moat that is lit up at night by lanterns and is first accessible by ship.  The island is also a habitat for several species of slimes. In the remakes, the Medal King's Palace was added as one of the locations players could fast-travel to with the [[Zoom]] spell, which was not the case in the original [[SFC]] version.

Dragon Quest X

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age

The medal collector is the headmaster Maxime Médaillé, who oversees the education of his students at L'Académie de Notre Maitre des Médailles. His lesson plan revolves around the medals, and he keeps track of the player's progress in a school stamp book. Examining one of the books of the school's library reveals that the Académie was founded by a nameless mini medal obsessed king, who whished that his daughter whould grow up loving them as much as he. Furthermore, according to a nearby slime, the shambled hut hidden under the well in the garden is the estive residence of a monarch similarly inclined (though considering how long monsters, including slimes, live its possible that this king and the founder are one and the same). Nowadays many of the students of the Académie doubt the veracity of the story behind the founding of the school.
