The Seed of strength is a recurring item in the Dragon Quest series. It is a seed that permanently increases the Strength of whoever consumes it. They can be found throughout the world in treasure chests, dropped by monsters, and by searching in different places, such as bags, pots, and drawers. The seeds cannot be purchased at any store, and give the user 1~3 points of Strength.

Seeds of strength can be found in Burland, Loch Tur, Zamoksva*, the Desert Bazaar, Birdsong Tower, Lakanaba*, Laissez Fayre, the Palais de Léon, Havre Léon*, the Hidden Valley, Bath, Porthtrunnel, the Pharos Beacon, Canalot, the Cove's Cove, Estark's Crypt, the Stairway to Zenithia, the Doorway to Nadiria, and the third stage of the Pioneer Town.
The seeds can also be dropped by Mad moles, Bullfinches, Chillanodons, Bulldozers, Dragon riders, Seasaurs, and Well wishers.
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride[edit]
Seeds of strength can be found in Whealbrook, the Uptaten Towers, the Ancient Ruins, Whealbrook Adit, Stockenbarrel, Gotha, the Knightmare Towers, and the Stairway to Zenithia. They can be received randomly from the Treasures n' Trapdoors boards in Fortuna, the Winter Palace, and Estark's Labyrinth.
The seeds can also be dropped by Sasquashes, Phantaseyeses, Eyevory tusk-tusks, Tortoceratopses, Golems, Black dragons, Gigantes, and Merkings. The Haunted Housekeeper, and Bjørn the Behemoose can drop it, as well, but their drop rate is astronomically low.
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation[edit]
Seeds of strength will increase a single character's Strength by 1~3 points and can be sold for 22 gold. They can be found in the Moonmirror Tower, Clearvale in the Lower World, Castle Graceskull, the Pillar of Pegasus, the Old Coal Mine, and the Fungeon. The seeds can be dropped by Porkers, Low djinkses, Boss trolls, Living statues, Hacksauruses, Sea fortresses, Finned fatales, Garrett, Bronson, Second Test, Dhuran, and Zozagel.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit]
In this game, the seed of strength's effect has been reduced slightly, only increasing a character's Strength by 1~2 points. They can be found in Estard, Burnmont in the past, the Grotta del Sigillo, the L'Arca region*, Frobisher and Faraday Castle in the past, the Automaton Stronghold, Alltrades Abbey in the past, Wilted Heart in the past, Pilgrim's Perdition, the Dungeon of Descent, the Tunnel to the Abbey, the Likeness of the Great Evil, Wetlock and Providence in the past, Mount Gora, the Den of the Dwarves, the Cathedral of Light, the Sea Dragon, and the Cave to Another World. They can also be won as prizes from the Lucky Panel at the Casino.
The seeds can be dropped by Canniboxes, Well wishers, Mimics, Dingbats, Juggulars, Metal heavies, Conkerers, Seasaurs, as well as Utter nutters, Bewarewolves, Gigantes, Ursa majors, Mad moles, Hacksauruses, and Ursa minors in the 3DS version.
- In the Nintendo 3DS version, the seeds have now gone back to increasing Strength by 1~3 points.
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit]

Seeds of strength will increase a character's Strength by 1~2 points. They can be found in a pot in the Tower of Alexandra, in a chest in the Maella Region*, a bag in Pickham, a cabinet in Baccarat, a chest in the Kingdom of Argonia*, a chest in Princess Minnie's castle*, a cabinet in Argonia, a cabinet in Arcadia, a pot in Empycchu, and part of the reward for completing the Troll Maze in Argonia. In the 3DS version, seeds of strength can be found randomly in blue treasure chests in the Alexandria Region, the Kingdom of Trodain, the island where Princess Minnie's Castle is located, the Savella Region, and the Holy Isle of Neos, as well as the purple chests in Memories Lane.
Mimics and Red horn have a 1⁄256 chance of dropping them (1⁄512 for stealing), and Geyzer will drop one 100% of the time. In the 3DS version, the seeds can also be dropped by Dead bowdies, Geyzer in Memoriam, the Great Argon Lizard in Memoriam, and the Dark Servant in Memoriam.
They can be sold for 15 gold and are used in a single recipe for the Alchemy Pot.
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit]

In this game, a seed of strength will increase a character's Strength by a fixed amount of 2. A seed is received as a reward for completing Quest #7: Curious Crevice. They can also be dropped rarely by Brownies and Trolls.
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit]

Once again, the amount of Strength increased by a seed is fixed at 2. Some seeds can be found in Heliodor, the Heliodorian Foothills, Gondolia, and the Heliodor Sewers in a locked room that requires the Sewer key to open. Seeds of strength are rare drops by Brownies, Trolls, Night clubbers, and Stout trolls, along with their vicious and malicious counterparts.
- In the original 3D versions of the game, the Bodkin archer at the Gallopolis Region - South Campsite will reward the player with four seeds of strength for destroying all the targets in the area.
Dragon Quest Monsters[edit]
Known as the ATKseed in this game, it will raise a single monster's ATK by 1~2 points. They can be found randomly on the ground while exploring teleportals. The queen located above the Arena in GreatTree will also reward Terry with an ATKseed for showing her a WildApe.
Dragon Quest Treasures[edit]
The Seed of strength is Treasure No. 307 in the Items category and can be found at the Wingswept Moors. Its base value is 900,000 gold.
